Energetic Sensitivity
Energetic sensitivity is the ability to see, hear, fee, smell or taste invisible phenomena. Psychic & Energy Work helps people process their energetic experiences. Assumptions and models can get in the way of good progress, and often prove to be the source of our “problems”.
This page offers perspectives about spiritual development and intuitive phenomena.
Energy is real
Spiritual and intuitive development can present in ways we don’t volunteer for. The ability to see, hear or sense “things” is present from childbirth but is said to become more subtle from the age of 7. It re-emerges in adult life with the exact time and manner varying depending on the person.
Many people struggle when invisible stuff starts presenting.  Few of us are mentored well in it from birth. Many think, at first, that they are imagining things. Some can start to wonder if they are unwell. Good support makes a big difference.  Nowaday, it is increasingly easy to find quality guidance and mentoring.
Even now though, energetically-sensitive people can be labelled as ill or odd.  Not everyone is an expert in energy.  One can be intuitive but are they working on a spiritual level?  Energy is real. It is not imagination even though mind can create things.  The invisible world has lots of logic and structure. If invisible things present in ways you haven’t made up, you’re probably experiencing something real.
Energetic phenomena aren’t necessarily imagined
Anyone can think things up but this is not the same as sensing on a seeing, hearing, feeling, smelt or taste level. Fran’s article, Life in a World of Atoms, outlines the difference between imagination and intuition (see the Articles page). Intuitive “things” just pop in – that is, come toward self from outside. This is very different to our own thoughts and feelings which birth from within then flow out.
Energetic stuff can’t mislead or be mislabelled once we learn how to work and live with it. The world of energy is not unreal or imagined. We don’t all sense the same things or in the same way.  What pops in comes to inform, even if others can’t sense, accept or understand it.

Energetic sensitivity doesn’t equate to mental illness
There is a difference between experiencing “things” and “mental illness”. The latter sees one losing his/her sense of separateness from what s/he is experiencing. Here, the person is too open to influence and can’t discriminate as an energetically-aware self would.  Personality can change depending upon what is channelled or sensed, and the person can seem inconstant or ungrounded.
Energetically-sensitive people aren’t necessarily lost. They “simply” sense things which others may not.  This can be overwhelming some days yet their sense of self is strong throughout. Well-grounded people question to find meaning.  They don’t “just” accept whatever presents. This often triggers their search for spiritual explanations, energetic health and intuitive understanding.
Intuitive development often begins in unexpected ways and unexpected times.  The need to live in balance doesn’t always require medical help. Some medications can weaken a person’s aura.  This, in turns, can make them more open to astral influence. We each need to process in our own way. If you’re labelled as “ill” when you know you are not, get a second opinion.
The above doesn’t mean that medicine is “bad”. It can help us all at times but isn’t always the best treatment pathway. Those who claim that intuitive or energetic stuff isn’t real only do this because they haven’t yet bumped into and learned about it themselves. The ability to see, hear, feel, smell of taste “things” is actually a skill which can be developed.  See Fran’s Learning pages to learn more about her mentoring.
Energetic sensitivity is all about spiritual adulthood
Some people see spiritual and intuitive development as a sign of loopiness. Granted, some regimes ask for more than they need to. Spiritually intuitive growth promotes what feels right.  It only promotes good grounding and health. Accurately sensing, labelling and processing invisible things requires us to witness and let life inform. We can all can overly-honour what we think, feel, fear, believe in ways that shut universal will out. Spiritually-grounded psychic and energy work tests and rebalances stances like these. Learning to intuit helps people become more adult – that is, conscious, present, authentic and responsible.
Working with energy also requires us to fully process whatever we sense. Aerobic-level exercise and healthy time-out in nature and quietness helps. Intuitive growth can also involve us learning how to receive and give/do in equal weight. Too much of anything tends to create imbalance. Developing well as an energetically-sensitive person involves a growth in awareness and learning to live in harmony.
The invisible realm isn’t more powerful than the person experiencing it
When we start experiencing invisible “stuff”, we can assume that it is more powerful and we have no say. This isn’t true but we onlny come to know this as we learn a few things. The world of energy is reasonably logical and structured (in ways even “naughty” beings respect). It is not more powerful. It just takes advantage of the fact that you don’t know this yet.
There’s no one way to develop energetically or spiritually
Intuitive, spiritual and energetic skills development isn’t a monoform path. We are all unique bundles of hearing, seeing, feeling, tasting and/or smelling skills. with specific learning and mentoring needs.
We all tend to start from different angles yet the world of energy is quite safe once we learn a few rules. These can be learned in a way that embraces the uniqueness of each student’s needs.  Spiritual, energetic or intuitive growth needn’t involve “specialness”, ritual, excessive fees or dependence. If it is true to soul, it only leaves a person feeling more grounded, resilient, aware and empowered.
So….  there is a system that will fit you perfectly and make sense. You will find it.  Keep searching until you find it.  Trust your gut feel.  That’s your intuition! Everything happens for a good reason. Things come together, especially when we give them the space and ability to.
Energy isn’t constant, nor is your development
Intuitive growth is not a linear pathway.  Life never plateaus out having discovered some things. Some phases bring flux; others bring quiet.  Life is an ocean.  Every aspect ebbs and flows. You’ll never reach a point of knowing everything or being able to control everything.  There’s huge joy in that.  The more we learn to allow, learn and live in flow, the better we become at riding, digesting and sharing in life’s waves. Spiritual growth asks us to accept there is more to life than self and mind, and give Source the space to guide, heal and mentor in genuinely fulfilling and healthy ways.
To summarise…
So? Energy is real.  Some people experience it.  It doesn’t have to signal “negative” things.  It can be learned and well-explained. You might experience something others don’t but that doesn’t mean something is “wrong”. Invisble experiences flag the emergence of skills that can enhance life when embraced in healthy ways.
