This page focuses upon how technology and substances can affect people, relationships and the way lives play out. One of the biggest challenges facing an energetically-sensitive person is finding (and maintaining) equilibrium. How this manifests depends on what’s occurring; a person’s profile; and his/her lifestyle choices. “Just” waking up; entertaining too much busyness; working or studying; heading to the shops; or socialising can open a person up to energetic extras which not everyone will notice.
The above, in itself, represents a major discourse on how energetic phenomena can impact a person’s reality. Other websites also explore how recreational substances can affect people and you are encouraged to visit them. What’s written below isn’t written from a moral perspective; it seeks to explain how substances and energy play out together. It highlights the need to “do it with awareness” – energy is real and ramifications exist in every decision made. The paragraphs below offer a few thoughts to help you make sense of such experiences.
The energetic realm is full of layers
Many authors have outlined the structure of the world of energy (a place of psychic phenomena; emotional and thought waves; and other beings). The energetic realm includes Divine energies that can heal and spiritually guide you. The world of energy is full of layers, with every row of atoms having a specific resonance. The higher one goes, the lighter and more balanced and peaceful the “vibes” become. Humans live amongst the lower levels (not necessarily the lowest). What we ancounter is influenced by our lifestyle; beliefs; and how we tend to process life.
The lower levels are often referred to as the astral or egoic realm. This part of the world of energy includes electromagnetic, mental and emotional dynamics (e.g. fear and pessimism). The astral layer also contains ghosts, lost souls and other self-focused energies. Divine energies also exist within these layers, scattered amongst the imbalanced “I”, “me” and “my”. Lower-level energies can interfere with our ability to remain connected to the highest frequencies we can. They also promote a sense of isolation, separateness, aloneness, limited or negative thinking.
Recreational substances can affect people in subtle or obvious ways. This is because they resonate closely with the mental and astral realms. Over time, when we don’t rebalance, we can become imbued with lower-level vibrations. Here, one starts to feel less connected to essential life and self. This can enhance the tendency to channel and become caught up in astral wavelengths. The over-use of technology and substances can affect people in notable ways. Especially if they don’t look after their energetic and physical health, people can start resonating with the egoic levels too much.
The lower levels are where ‘negative’ influence exist
There are all sorts of things in the world of energy, irrespective of the level involved. Lower-level beings and energetic phenomena ted to exist in a lack of (non-religious) faith. Not every entity in this zone is “bad” but they tend to be more lost and needy. They’ve yet to fulfil their spiritual journey partly because they haven’t released all opinion or fear. This can result from noble intentions (e.g. concern for the living) or because they’re scared. It can also occur because they don’t yet realise where they are or understand how to pass over.
There are also energies which are definitely ‘naughty’ and only interested in creating dissonance. This group doesn’t tend to trust (100%) that the Divine is real, benevolent and most powerful. ‘Naughty’ energies often know how to connect with Source but, because of their issues, they prefer not to. Instead they tend to hang about and influence humans and spaces, sometimes quite noticeably. This is also how the imbalanced use of technology and substances can affect people. Over time and left unchecked, they can start to channel a very different version of self.
The lower levels are also where our lack of faith, opinion and fear is
The realm of “negative influence” tends to hang about most with humans who are not fully connected to Source. This will include all of us, some times – life can easily distract us. Over-use of technology;, medication, alcohol, sugar or drugs can affect people. This is often exacerbated by the fact that one isn’t exercising regularly. Such dynamics can attract lower-level vibrations and magnify egoic states. The frequencies of such activities are closely aligned with astral energies and tend to magnify our identification with them. In extreme cases, they also attract ghosts/beings who latch on and really influence people. Life requires balance – exercise and fresh air – if we’re to remain energetically clear.
Like attracts like in the world of energy
The paragraphs above are further explained by the law of attraction – ie, “what you experience or attract tends to result from what you emit or focus upon”. In the world of energy, “like atoms attract like atoms” – ie, we tend to end up in states that resemble what we embrace and allow (intentionally or not). This appears to be the universe’s way of magnifying spiritual issues so that they’re noticed and addressed. Energetically and spiritually, this is “development”: ie, becoming more aware of and responsible for our life choices.
The person who’s “over-doing” alcohol or recreational drugs is often driven by egoic energies, even subtly. This isn’t a criticism – addiction isn’t an easy. experience. One could argue that we’re all addicted to something or one that we could release. The energetic challenge is that, as a bundle of atoms, substances help their user stay in lower-level energies more than s/he needs to. This, in itself, can attract more addictive and challenging dynamics. There are usually enough of these vibes at any time; recreational substances only help them grow. Over time, attachments magnify our egoic tendencies and heighten those stances that need resolving. As lower level influence increases, a person’s thoughts, feelings and (re-)actions can become very “negative”.
Places where people tend to consume substances tend to attract lower-level energies. Such venues aren’t always energetically cleared (in ways that remove lower-level vibrations). This can see the amount or calibre of astral energies increasing in extremeness. Going to a club or bar can mean entering physical and invisible crowds. Egoic/astral energies tend to like socialising; they’re often keen to interact and not only with those who are using substances. Nor are they anchored to any one venue – they’ll go home with whomever they resonate with. They can attach to their human quite strongly and affect his/her moods, thoughts and behaviour. Technology and substances can affect people on any level (including those they care about).
Have you ever noticed how some people, near a bottle or substance, change the moment a bottle, glass or a hit appears? Well-entrenched addicts noticeably shift the moment such ideas are mentioned! This is because the energies they’re accompanied by are so entrenched. Such things can be sensed by those who are energetically-sensitive and straight, on visual, audio or feeling levels. They can play out loudly via the addict’s words or behaviour in a bid to become the centre of attention. Addictive vibes open up the forum for all sorts of performance. This is why some people’s behaviour shifts so markedly when harder drugs or alcohol feature (even in small talk).
The lower levels are the loudest
An unfortunate thing about the lower energetic levels is that they tend to be felt as unpleasant and loud. Not all lower levels work at “100 decibels” – amoebic entities work quietly (until they’re challenged). This said, egoic-level energies can be sensed by an energetically-sensitive person. This where drugs, alcohol and technology can affect people energetically, whether they’re consuming or not
Entering a zone that’s heavy with egoic, mental or technological energies can create issues. It’s like moving from peace into a heavy metal concert and can affect people for a long while. Intuitively, egoic frequencies can be heard as more silent noise or chatter; seen as ghosts, colours, etc; or felt as discomfort or tension. Over-use of substances can affect people subtly or extremely, pleasantly or via dissonance. Loud lower-level energies can really distress an intuit, to the point of physical pain. In extreme cases, one can only rebalance by leaving the scenario (sometimes permanently). Extremely egoic energies/stances can play out as really needy or schizoid. Energetically-sensitive people can react to lower-level vibes in much the same way as a person with food allergies. Such frequencies can be sensed before they physically start mingling with them. This is why and how one can come unstuck, because we energetically represent (i.e. resonate with) the states and vibes we choose to entertain. It can take months, even years, to clear from lower-level dynamics, even if one was stone, cold sober.
Do it with awareness
As mentioned above, this page is not moralising; it is about energetic phenomena and how they can manifest. It’s not so much a case of “don’t do it” but “do it with awareness”, especially if you are highly intuitive. This is particularly the case for people who feel “things” because they tend to have the biggest discernment challenge. If you see or hear “something”, you know that it’s not you (where a sentient can need to process what s/he senses in order to understand it).
When egoic energies are loud, the energetically-sensitive person is advised to examine what s/he’s been entertaining and how they manage stress, etc. The philosophy of “turn the other cheek” can trap energetically-sensitive people in the “wrong” vibrations. Energetic sensitivity isn’t about being judgmental or cruel, but it does require healthy boundaries. Test these opinions but, if you feel “odd” after a night out “there” or too much of him, her or “that”, this is worth examining. It could be you, them, the place, the food, the substances; or the fact that you haven’t had a decent break. Resolving such issues is a step-by-step process that’s often helped by fresh air and exercise. Lower-level energies don’t only target imbibers; they make themselves known by targeting those who are “straight”. This is often the energetically-sensitive person because s/he can dialogue with (i.e. notice) them.
How much is too much?
This is a question we have to address individually – there’s no one answer (although some would say, “any at all”). The consumption or allowance of addictive stances seems to hit children, indigenous people, older people, those taking medication and females the hardest. If you combine any of these factors, the intensity of the energetic experience tends to increase.
From what I understand, indigenous people are often hit hard by substances taken in any volume. From an energetic perspective, this is due to their affiliation with the land (as well as sky). Being more spiritually bound to nature, they can be more affected by energies existing at that level. This does not mean that indigenous peoples practise a lower level of spirituality (far from it!).
In young adults (i.e. amongst moderate users), the energies of drugs and alcohol don’t always play out so severely. This doesn’t mean they don’t manifest at all, but young people often bounce better. Obviously, one needs to consider the substance involved – e.g. beer is softer than spirit; ice worse than dope. With age, the person who ingests “too much” over time (for him/her) finds it harder to process it all. The human body is a sponge in which energies build over time. As s/he ages, a person can need a lesser amount of any stimulus before lower-level energies begin manifesting.
Prescribed medication can also affect a person’s energetic health. This is widely known (hence the warnings about drug and alcohol consumption on many medicines). On the energetic level, medicines can weaken one’s aura, making him/her susceptible to lower-level energies. This can see him/her becoming inebriated/bent more rapidly (and what she channels becoming more extreme).
Gender is also a factor because, energetically, the female is the absorber (i.e. the vessel that receives and generates more life energy). Combine this with age, medication, drugs or alcohol, older females can get hit the hardest. That’s not to say that such things don’t play through men or young people. Energetic sensitivity can manifest in either gender at any age.
What if I’m energetically sensitive and don’t partake at all?
Energetic awareness or sensitivity doesn’t remove anyone from the chance of lower-level influence. One can bump into lower-level energies anywhere (e.g. at work, home or public spaces). Each person (and situation) is unique; there’s no one answer the lower levels are where lost (troubled) souls reside. These frequencies get help by attracting the attention of people they sense can dialogue with them. This often involves the energetically-sensitive person (because s/he is intuitive). Yet such scenarios are often facilitated by other, less-sensitive or -aware people. This seems to be how Source encourages a level of care.
The state of lost souls was once described to me as being in a room with no lights on. Spirit hangs about because it’s missed the “exit door” and is usually pleased when someone turns a light on. In the world of energy, the “light bulb” is often a child, addicted or energetically-sensitive person. Whether s/he wants this or not, having “seen the light”, lost souls approach him/her. The purpose of this is to gain attention and, thereby, resolve a spiritual issue. As soon as that’s done, lower-level energies tend to leave the zone (and person) they’ve been in (or with). Sometimes naughty; sometimes negative; such energies can be cleared by witnessing their reasons for being lost. This isn’t too difficult but can see an energetically-sensitive person momentarily out of kilter. The astral layers manifest in various ways; there’s no way of predicting how they will unfold. While technology and substances can affect people, sooner or later, life will help imbalance release.
The interpersonal reality of substances and energy
Drugs, alcohol and technology don’t only play out in the person who uses them. In quiet, obvious, even distressing ways, substances can affect people’s relationships. Some energetically-sensitive people can need to avoid settings and gatherings where such things are in excess. Less-sensitive people don’t always understand this which can further complicate things, no matter how well they are explained. Unless a person is energetically sensitive, understanding can be elusive. We can all channel a bit too much of any dynamic, but addressed this can make life hard
When one person partakes in substances and the other doesn’t, it can be hard finding a genuine meeting point. If the former imbibes to subdue his/her issues, s/he can become quite defensive. Sometimes this occurs because what you experience isn’t real (evident) to him/her. No matter how well you explain it, there may only be so much some people can work with you. If this is your experience, you may have to find other ways to socialise (substance-free). With “luck”, your peers will support you – ego being ego, this doesn’t always happen.
None of the above should be used to egoically reject others because of what they choose. If however, other people can’t/won’t honour your needs, you may need to relate with them in other ways. Relationships are supposed to be two-way dynamics, where all players matter, equally, fairly. If the shoe were on the other foot, such things would be asked of you; no one is supposed to carry the loads of others long-term. Everyone has to own and process his/her stuff (which can be a huge lesson for energetically-sensitive people). Like attracts like in the world of energy – if you make like a porter or doormat, life often upholds that. Don’t believe me blindly – test these perspectives – but do “it” with awareness (balance often features as a key spiritual lesson).
The lower realms ultimately encourage balance
You know, one huge positive about energetic sensitivity is its tendency to promote what’s healthy and honest. Whether you partake of substances or not, lower-level experiences highlight what you’re entertaining. There’s always a positive spiritual lesson in invisible challenges like this. Activities that magnify the astral layers (ultimately) promote balanced living. We may not always like what presents, yet it’s each individual’s task to address. The world is full of astral phenomena – they’re a part of being human (like it or not). The dare is to not overly worship such states which, for some, can require a different lifestyle. For others, it involves the need for more discipline – you’ll know which route applies to you. We’re all intuitive (and learning how to live with that as daily adventure).
